The EPFL Library offers short training sessions (2 or 2.5 hrs) on various topics. A practical and interactive approach is privileged. All training sessions are given in English.

Up to speed with Zotero

This workshop is for people who want to start using Zotero, a free tool that enables to collect, organize and share bibliographic references. Zotero spares its users from spending troublesome hours on the creation of a bibliography. Very useful for anyone who writes reports or theses, Zotero will be useful all along the curriculum and beyond.

Beyond Google : Find scientific information with advanced tools

The aim of this workshop is to develop your skills in the field of information retrieval : Build a search strategy for your topic, Get to know specialized resources, Automate your search to get fresh news as they are published

You already have a submitted a data management plan (DMP), you might also have updated one and now, you need to finalize this document, for yourself or your funder.
Do you wonder how to keep up with the promises you made in the document?
Come and check the consistency of your data management plan as a document and get tips on how to implement for your lab !
Objectives:

Finalize your data management plan according to your needs
Know what should happen with your DMP and linked research outputs (datasets, publications, data papers, …)
Discuss how to implement the lessons learned in research data management for your context

Code and data management in the open research context

How to design and practice one’s research in an orderly and Open Science-conscious fashion? What does source code and data management implies for today’s researchers?
During this course based on real life examples and live demos, we will introduce core concepts and the uncomplicated first steps to keep one’s data under control, all along the research process with an emphasis on sharing and publishing.
Attendees will have the opportunity to reflect upon their own practice and learn ways to consolidate their methodology.
At the end of the course, you will be able to make informed choices and boost data and code management in your daily research work.
