The University of Zurich/ETH Zurich is organizing a networking event for early–career practitioners and scientists on July 13.
Over the past year, the Corona pandemic has made it difficult for early–career practitioners and scientists to connect with like–minded colleagues within the field of computational social science (CSS). To enhance exchange –both within academia and the industry–this networking event will give you the opportunity to get to know other data scientists, share contact details, resources, and maybe even start collaborations. The event leading up to the 7th International Conference on Computational Social Science will feature two main parts:
- To meet new colleagues. You will have the chance to meet–up in smaller breakout rooms and have light–hearted discussions about current topics in CSS and your work around it. For example, you will discuss ideas about projects that you are currently working on orc ould realize together.
- To get answers for your most forward–pressing questions related to CSS. We will let you vote on the CSS career topics you are most interested in –for example, problems of working in a highly interdisciplinary field, whether to pursue an academic career or switch to the industry, or gender imbalances within the field. These will be discussed a week later, in a panel discussion on “A Career in CSS –Dream or Disillusion?” (see this event here).
